Our Business

Point Loma Scooters opened in June of 2008 and is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for owner and native San Diegan Eric Dutra.

Point Loma Scooters is dedicated to providing the best in customer service, lowest prices and highest value in a relaxed " European boutique" style location. We are dedicated to all aspects of the world of scooters and strive to inspire to become aware of how great the scootering lifestyle is while delivering high quality goods and services.

This past year we have be honored to work with several non-profit organizations including Isabella's Gift, Point Loma Nazarene University, and the Jewish Community Center, by donating scooters to raise money for these worthy groups and to support the community that we belong to. We hope to continue these relationships into next year and hope that you will continue to support them as well. Point Loma Scooters has also been at several events in the area and we continue to promote Scooters as a green form of transportation. You can be proud to be a part of what we hope is a movement toward gas efficiency and environmentally friendly travel. We are also now on facebook, where we update our events calendar and have links to all of our local charities.

Also, we have teamed up with the San Diego Scooter Squadron to host the First Saturday of the month ride to bring new and seasoned scooterists together. The rides will resume in January and we hope to see you all there, please call for more information. We continue to encourage people to get out there and ride!

Who We Are

Eric a.k.a "Scooterman" of Point Loma has been activley involved in all aspects of scooters since 1985. He started out with one scooter as a upgrade from a bicycle in high school.

Shortly thereafter he became a scooter enthusiast and began his career in scooters with "Eric's Scooter Service", probably San Diego's first mobile scooter repair business. Then in the early nineties as "retromania" swept the land, he began to collect and restore vintage scooters from Europe and Japan and expand this part into his existing business.

Being a member of local scooter clubs and attending many rallies and campouts during the years, Eric became a charter member of the newly reformed "Vespa Club of America" in 1992. Eric then began to be a contributing writer for this club covering rallies and his extrodinary travels via Vespa in Europe and USA! Eric has been interviewed on MTV Europe, Time magazine, newspapers and has hosted the largest attendance San Diego rally to date the "Amerivespa 1999" national rally with almost 200 scooters in attendance and the first "new generation" Vespa raffled as the grand prize!

Being of Portugese decent, Eric is also a member of the oldest organized two wheeled club in Portugal the Vespa club of Lisbon which is celebrationg 55 years of existence. He has also done prommotional work for Addidas/Vespa during the Euro cup 2004 football championship attended dozens of European scooter rallies, (some with over 4000 scooters!) and several 6-24 hour endurance races with Vespa.

Eric has displayed many of his scooters from his private collection at the San Diego Automotive museum, Del Mar concours d'elegance cafe's, restaurants and scooter rallies.
